Three Act Structure

Act One - "The Set Up"
At the beginning of the film, the audience sees a young man called Ben committing a robbery inside a large modern house. As the house alarm goes off a tracking shot is used to follow Ben as he panics and runs out of the house. As he runs out of the house gates, he hears the sounds of police sirens approaching. In a rush, he approaches a house and decides to break in finding a young and pretty woman called Georgia who is the owner of the house. Ben doesn't know what to do and spontaneously decides to threaten her and demands her to lock all windows and doors and give him her phone. He does not explain what he is going to do to her or why he is doing it but simply tells Georgia to sit on a wooden chair which he takes from her dining room table and places in the middle of the room. He ties her  to the chair with scarfs he finds hanging up by the door and tells her she mustn't leave the room. However, as days go by they begin to talk as he has to keep her alive and feed her.

Act Two - "The Conflict"
One night when they are eating dinner, Georgia gets the courage to ask what his name is. Ben stops eating, and thinks about what to say. Finally, he decides to tell Georgia his whole life, it is clear he is tired of living like this and is also getting frustrated and confused by his feelings towards her and he feels that telling her might change something. It is revealed to Georgia and the audience that he has been wanted for many years for different crimes he has committed. Each time, he does the same thing and breaks into a persons house in which he hides until he feels it is time to move on. This is a lot of information for him to have shared and Ben feels uncomfortable so when Georgia starts questioning him because of her confusion Ben lashes out and shouts at her to shut up. As he puts the dinner away Georgia starts to tell him her life story and how she has fallen out with her family and has lived alone for the past 10 years. Ben tries not to show it but he becomes more interested in what she is saying and eventually he unties her from the chair and they end up talking all night. The audience whiteness the connection between them growing. Georgia decides she wants to recreate Ben's life including his physical appearance, name, wardrobe, everything. She feels sorry for him and the way he has never had any family and so puts in all her effort to give him a new identity which will hide him from the police. Through this journey of his transformation the audience sees them become very close and to celebrate his new 'look' they drink wine all night and end up kissing. The next day Georgia wakes up in bed alone, confused and in a panic she searches the house calling for Ben but he isn't there, she finds the door front door unlocked and a letter left on the side. The letter says how he is grateful for everything she has done for him but that he feels he is not good enough for her, he also tells her how usually he kills the person in the house before he leaves but with her he couldn't bring himself to do it which answers one of the questions she had asked after he had first told her his life story. He leaves no form of contact to tell her where he has gone or what he is doing and she breaks down in tears.

Act Three - "The Resolution"
For the next couple of weeks Georgia tries to forget about everything that happened but everything she does or sees reminds her of Ben. For the first time she turns the news on whilst washing up in the kitchen and hears Ben's name. She realises, drops the plate she is cleaning and runs over to the TV. The news reporter says that the case of Ben Samuels has been closed and it can be announced he has fled from the country or killed himself. She immideately assumes that he has killed himself and that is why he hasn't been in contact with her since he left. She is frustrated and annoyed that he has done this to her and she gets angry and smashes the plates she was cleaning and cries. As she turns around and looks up she notices a figure standing outside the window at the front of her house. As she slowly walks towards it she realises it is Ben and runs to the front door and out of the house, throws her arms around him and he kisses her. He apologises for leaving her but admits he is in love with her. The film ends with the two of them together.
