What is an Opening Title Sequence?
An opening title sequence is a sequence of credits shown at the beginning of a motion picture, television program, or video game. It includes the most important members of the production of the film for example in 'The Holiday' the first credits to appear are Columbia and Universal, by using horizontal integration they were the most significant contributors to the production of the film. Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jude Law and Jack Black are all credited before the name of the film, the editor, production designer, musician, costume designer etc. because they are famous and therefore give the film a pre-sold audience as their fans are likely to go and see the film. Therefore they are credited earlier due to their importance with the global awareness of the film. There may or may not be accompanying music to the opening title sequence and the credits are usually text superimposed on a blank screen, static pictures or on top of action shots.
